International Ministries of excellence

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

There’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Some people and places have figured out how to address certain challenges that others can benefit from. Japan excels at trains and public transportation, a solution California is in dire need of. The Middle East’s windcatchers can help cool overheated cities like Madrid and Paris. The Norwegian Government Pension Fund serves as a role model for other countries with natural resources. These centres of excellence can turn inspiration into action.

Recognizing the opportunity, the United Nations establishes an International Ministries of Excellence (IMEs) program to encourage service, cultural, and intellectual exports. The IMEs actively collaborate with their international counterparts to help raise standards of living around the world. In some instances, an IME can lead every aspect of the project from beginning to end. IMEs are paid for their services and receive funding from the UN.

Evidence:

  • Inspired by Middle Eastern windcatchers, Madrid's 'wind garden' will cool the city by 4°C.

  • The Norwegian Government Pension Fund (GPF) is a standard for oil countries.

  • K-Pop is a part of a deliberate government strategy to grow South Korea's geopolitical and economic goals, and is cited as an example of the declining power of the United States.
